Hymenoplasty (Hymen Reconstruction)
Hymenoplasty, or Hymen Reconstruction, restores the hymen membrane to a “pre-sexual” state. Dr. Nikhil Agarkhedkar and the Staff of Solace Clinic in Pune, Maharashtra are extremely sensitive to women who may be undergoing this procedure due to cultural, social, or religious reasons. Care and compassion are given to patients who may have lost their hymen due to incest, rape, or child abuse.
By restoring the hymen to a “pre-sexual” state, your vagina will be rejuvenated. Hymenoplasty is a simple procedure that will repair a torn hymen and pull together the tissue so it is once again covered by the vagina. In some cultures, a torn hymen can affect her marriage prospects, reputation and life. By restoring and repairing the tissue, a woman can regain control and ownership of the area and feel good about her body once again.
What is Hymenoplasty?
Hymenoplasty or Hymen Reconstruction Surgery is a procedure to artificially restore the hymen. The aim of a hymenoplasty procedure is to reinstate bleeding during sexual intercourse, in particular for the woman who is getting married for the first time. Hymenoplasty is culturally sensitive and linked to a belief in certain cultures that the hymen is proof of virginity.
How Hymenoplasty is typically carried out?
Our surgeon draws together the perforated hymen and stitches it to leave a small opening in the vagina. The hymenoplasty is designed to recreate the look of the “virgin” vagina which will bleed on penetration.
What is hymen?
Hymen is a membrane present at the opening of vagina. Intact hymen is thought to be a proof of virginity and lost only at first intercourse. Hymen can be of many shapes and sizes from birth. Some lack opening and require surgery to let the menstrual flow out. Some have a pinhole-opening, requiring surgery to achieve intercourse and pregnancy. Hymen can be broken not only at first intercourse, but also due to horse riding, strenuous sports activity, injury, accident and insertion of tampon.
